Tousled Bride: Kimberly

Eek! I’m sooo excited to finally share photo’s of Kimberly & Matt’s wedding day!

I was honored to be asked to do hair and makeup for the bride, Kimberly, and her mom, Joanie! We have been friends since middle school and it couldn’t of been a better experience to start the new year!

HAIR DETAILS:

As hairstylists, we always love a low maintenance bride and Kimberly was just that. She gave me ideas of what she wanted but trusted me enough to do what I wanted and offer suggestions.

For her look, she definitely wanted something up, textured with volume!

First step is prepping the hair:

I prepped with heat protectant spray and lots of texture spray.

I used a 1” curling iron to curl her hair and broke them up after they set.

I went in with texture powder at the roots & teased at the crown of the head.

*hot tip: for clients with finer hair wanting volume, i use a crimper (i know, very 90s!) on the internal pieces of hair where I tease to help create volume and add thickness.

Creating texture

I then started to pin the back in place to keep the volume in tact & created the bun and working with small sections of hair to pin and create that texture and movement.

I left a couple pieces out in the front to save for last to layer over the top of the teased hair and pin into place across and around the bun always hiding the pins and tucking in any random pieces.

We left a small piece or two of hair in the front to frame the face but nothing that would get in the way or bother her during the ceremony.

Skin prep

The key thing that will make or break your makeup look is your skin! Always make sure you are taking care of your skin, develop a skin routine, use CLINICALLY proven products, get facials regularly, drink water, take your vitamins etc. Lol. Whatever you gotta do, do it all.

First thing is going in with Bioderma makeup remover even if your face is clean, then I went in with Embroylisse moisturizer all over and Laneige lip mask.

Soft natural glam is the vibe

For the overall look, she wanted something that was a little more elevated than her natural everyday look but nothing too crazy that would make her look too GLAM or like she’s a different person.

I love when brides can embrace their natural features and use makeup to enhance not cover their beautiful faces!

I went in and color corrected wherever needed, then used Face Atelier foundation all over as a base. I love this foundation, it is a staple for a lot of professional makeup artists because it goes with many skin types and leaves a natural airbrushed look and is buildable. I then used Nars Radiant Concealer for under eyes and wherever was needed.

For the brows, I used Anastasia brow powder duo to fill in.

Used Hoola bronzer for soft contouring around the face, nose and forehead. Used the Lorac eyeshadow pallet for a smoky look with browns and neutrals, staying away from black; I even used a mocha liner over top and white liner in the water line so it wouldn’t sink in her features or look to heavy. The eyeshadow and liners really made her eyes POP!

She used her own mascara for her lashes and we used a couple individual lashes over her natural ones. She didn’t need much since her lashes are already full and long!

For cheeks and highlight, I used the Nars Full Dimension cheek palette. On her lips we went with a nudeish soft pink to match her natural lip color.

I then went over her face with ben nye translucent powder and topped it off with setting spray.
